About the position

Under the direct supervision of the Physician and Practice Manager, assists in providing clinical care to office patients. The role involves greeting and escorting patients to exam rooms, obtaining relevant information and taking vital signs as indicated. The candidate will input pertinent clinical information into the electronic health record timely and with accuracy, and perform a complete medication reconciliation. Responsibilities also include triaging incoming calls, messages, and In-Basket tasks, documenting all calls and encounters into the patient's medical record, and participating in the identification of care aspects for patients. The position requires adherence to safety policies and assisting clinicians with clinical procedures and tests specific to the department. The candidate will verify and implement clinician's orders for testing and/or procedures, administer routine injections under supervision, and maintain exam rooms for patient arrivals. Additional duties include clerical support, triaging walk-in patients, and maintaining communication with the inter-professional team to facilitate safe transitions and continuity of care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in providing clinical care to office patients under supervision.
  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.

  • Performs complete medication reconciliation.
  • Triages incoming calls, messages, and In-Basket tasks; prioritizes urgent matters.
  • Documents all calls, encounters, and actions taken into the patient's medical record timely and completely.
  • Participates in identification of care aspects for patients and evaluation of that care.
  • Adheres to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
  • Assists clinicians with clinical procedures and/or additional tests.
  • Verifies and implements clinician's orders for testing and/or procedures.
  • Administers routine injections under supervision and documents in real time.
  • Prepares and maintains exam rooms for patient arrivals.
  • Cleans and maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in practice and department meetings and trainings.
  • Maintains patient rights and confidentiality obligations.
  • Provides clerical/office support as necessary.
  • Triages walk-in patients per established protocols.
  • Cross-coverage due to illness, vacation, or unexpected absences.
  • Maintains CEU requirements and provides documentation.
  • Maintains communication and collaboration with the inter-professional team.
  • Consistently provides service excellence to all patients and staff.
  • Performs other work-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Massachusetts LPN License.
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) and must maintain certification.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and time management skills.
  • Experience with current office technology and proficient with computer office applications.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a clinical setting preferred.
