Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents while supervising nursing activities for the assigned shift.
  • Ensure the facility meets minimum staffing levels for nurses and nurse aides.
  • Assess residents experiencing significant changes in status using the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in resident rooms, common areas, and treatment areas.
  • Assist in developing a dementia care program with a holistic focus.
  • Verify resident census accuracy and report admissions, discharges, and bed-holds as per facility policies.
  • Coordinate pre-certifications and recertifications for insurance payers.
  • Participate in developing and updating facility policies and procedures for nursing services.
  • Audit nursing documentation for accuracy and relevance.
  • Attend and contribute to various committee meetings as required.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current unencumbered active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or LPN/LVN in the state.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience as a supervisor in a healthcare facility.
  • Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in nursing care for elderly or disabled residents.
  • Knowledge of dementia care practices.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with a team and supervise other personnel.
