About the position

First Choice Nurses is seeking passionate and committed Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for per-diem and local contract opportunities in various locations across Hampton Roads, Virginia. The role involves providing high-quality patient care in a professional and compassionate manner, with a focus on diverse basic care needs. This position offers flexibility and the chance to work with a supportive team in a rewarding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Care for patients in a professional and considerate manner.
  • Delegate duties to Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to provide the highest level of care.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR) following medical doctor (MD) orders.
  • Provide wound care to patients by following MD orders.
  • Admit or discharge patients following facility protocol and MD orders.
  • Perform ongoing assessments on patients by following MD orders.
  • Explain medications and treatments to patients and family members while adhering to HIPAA and facility protocol.
  • Familiarity with G-tubes, nebulizer treatments, and comfort with tracheostomy care.

Requirements

  • Covid Vaccine
  • 1 year Experience Minimum
  • BLS/CPR Certification
  • Updated PPD (within 1 year)
  • Active LPN/CNA License
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds without restrictions.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long hours without restrictions.
  • Must be able to bend and lift without restrictions.
  • Updated Immunization required.
  • Clean background check required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven experience as an LPN
  • Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiarity with hospital health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures
  • Understanding confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices
  • Excellent knowledge of medical and hospital terminology
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and data entry
  • Perfect physical condition and stamina
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate and able to handle stress
  • Successful completion of the LPN or CNA program is a must.
