The LPN Urgent Care position at Kaiser Permanente in Beaverton, OR, involves participating in a healthcare team to deliver quality, customer-focused care to patients. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize patients' office visits by ensuring all necessary clinical information is ready for clinician review.
  • Perform focused nursing assessments and triage on routine medical conditions as directed by RN/clinician.
  • Recognize when to defer to RN/clinician for comprehensive assessments of complex medical conditions.
  • Utilize standardized tools to identify health maintenance gaps and alert clinicians as necessary.
  • Implement planned nursing and medical interventions as delegated by RN/clinician.
  • Contribute to the development and modification of individualized patient care plans under RN/clinician direction.
  • Prepare patients for visits/procedures and ensure exam rooms are equipped and clean.
  • Provide health education and advice on routine medical conditions and procedures.
  • Document nursing care outcomes in electronic medical records using standardized procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic tests, therapies, and procedures within the scope of practice competently.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Practical Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire OR Compact License: Practical Nurse within 6 months of hire.
  • Practical Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Demonstrated clinical nursing skills and interpersonal/customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral).
  • Proficiency in using computers and keyboarding.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or more years of nursing experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • IV therapy experience or recent certification.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record documentation.
  • Current knowledge and clinical skills in providing routine care in assigned clinical areas.
