About the position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Allina Health's Buffalo Crossroads Clinic plays a crucial role in providing quality patient care in an outpatient clinic setting. This position involves supporting healthcare providers by delivering timely and effective health services, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining efficient clinic operations. The LPN will work collaboratively with a team to enhance patient care and manage quality goals, while also performing various clinical tasks as delegated by providers or registered nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care support as delegated by Provider or RN
  • Administers therapies including medications and schedules follow-up visits
  • Provides patient care pre/post encounter or procedure and preventative health information
  • Collaborates with Provider and team on improving and managing quality goals
  • May start, monitor, and discontinue IVs based on site needs and training
  • Rooms patients, manages patient flow, and obtains adequate patient medical information
  • Accurately measures patients' vital signs and records in medical record
  • Coordinates communication of medical information and confirms with patients
  • Assists patients in preparing for physician exams, providing psycho-emotional support
  • Collects, labels, and processes specimens timely and accurately
  • Assists physician with procedures, including preparation of medication
  • Organizes patient flow for efficient physician movement
  • Makes outbound calls to patients for follow-up and test results
  • Accurately charts information in the patient medical record
  • May checkout and schedule follow-up visits with providers
  • Receives or initiates patient phone calls and answers phones professionally
  • Documents all encounters and patient interactions in the electronic medical record
  • Processes physician orders
  • Performs clinical functions within scope of license as ordered by physician
  • Responds promptly to patient needs and requests
  • Reviews patient charts before visits to ensure availability of test results
  • Provides appropriate instructions to patients as directed by physician
  • Cleans, prepares, organizes, and re-stocks exam rooms
  • Ensures proper maintenance and sterilization of instruments
  • Stocks and supplies exam rooms according to standards and patient needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Vocational degree from a Board of Nursing approved LPN program
  • Licensed Practical Nurse MN BON or Licensed Practical Nurse Wisconsin (if working in Wisconsin or interacting with Wisconsin patients remotely)
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years clinic LPN experience
