The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at Friends Health Care Association involves providing direct nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse. This per diem position requires collaboration with nursing and medical staff to deliver quality care and participate in team discussions.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Assists in preoperative, postoperative, and relevant health teaching for patients and families.
- Shares responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans.
- Participates in team conferences, sharing knowledge and ideas among team members.
- Prepares, administers, and records medications according to policy.
- Performs more complex nursing activities as competence increases.
- Participates in emergency care as needed.
- Communicates frequently with the team leader regarding patients' conditions.
- Records information accurately and completely.
- Constructively participates in committees within the nursing department.
Requirements
- Completion of a formal education program in practical nursing.
- Current state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- One year of clinical practice preferred.
- Demonstrated clinical competence.
