About the position

The LPN position at Country Arch Care Center involves providing direct nursing care to residents and supervising the daily activities of nursing assistants. The role is essential in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining high-quality care standards. The position requires effective communication and leadership skills to manage nursing staff and coordinate care activities during the assigned shift.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants.
  • Meet with assigned nursing staff and support personnel to plan services, programs, and activities for the shift.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations concerning shift activities as required.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as necessary.
  • Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to the unit/shift.
  • Complete and file required record-keeping forms/charts upon resident admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
  • Receive and transcribe telephone orders from physicians and record on the Physician's Order Form.
  • Chart nurse's notes in an informative and descriptive manner reflecting the care provided and the resident's response.
  • Fill out and complete accident/incident reports and submit to the Director as required.
  • Perform routine charting duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel and other departments within the facility.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth and positive emphasis throughout the unit and shift.
  • Receive/give nursing reports upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
  • Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
  • Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, and care for the dead/dying as required.
  • Monitor assigned personnel to ensure compliance with safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information and report unauthorized disclosures.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse with a current unencumbered state license.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing care facilities.
  • Current CPR Certification is required.
  • At least 1 year of Supervisory Experience is preferred.
  • Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
