About the position

The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for providing professional psychotherapy services to clients, including conducting clinical assessments, crisis intervention, individual and group treatment, and case management. This role requires maintaining confidentiality and adhering to social work standards and legal requirements while effectively managing a caseload and collaborating with other professionals.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments using various methods and standardized testing tools to evaluate and diagnose clients.
• Provide crisis intervention, individual and group treatment, psychotherapy, family services, and case management for referred clients.
• Monitor progress in program-related activities and the effectiveness of psychotherapy and treatment.
• Maintain confidentiality of treatment records and sensitive information.
• Attend and participate in assigned meetings, conferences, and in-services.
• Provide supervision, work direction, training, and evaluation of subordinate staff.
• Operate office equipment including a computer and assigned software.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a relevant field is required.
• Valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license in New Jersey is required.
• Knowledge of mental health systems and clinical theory and practice, particularly crisis intervention.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
