About the position

The Food Service Coordinator at Loyola University Health System is responsible for ensuring compliance with operational standards in the Food and Nutrition department, providing quality food service to patients, visitors, and staff. This role includes monitoring food safety, overseeing department operations in the absence of the manager, and assisting with staff management and training.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor compliance of Food and Nutrition staff to operational standards.
  • Assume responsibility for department operations in the absence of the manager.
  • Ensure security of assets such as safe monies, two-way radios, computers, food products, equipment, and keys.
  • Monitor compliance with food handling and storage guidelines to ensure food safety.
  • Assess operations and initiate corrective actions per HACCP guidelines.
  • Complete and file required reports accurately.
  • Ensure appropriate food storage temperatures throughout the department.
  • Communicate operational issues with department management.
  • Assist manager in staff interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and discipline.
  • Lead in-services prior to each meal period as needed.
  • Document quality indicators and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Monitor safety standards and document incidents involving visitors and staff.
  • Plan, monitor, and conduct employee training.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in food service management or related field.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP principles.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to monitor and assess food quality and safety standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare food service environment.
  • Certification in food safety management.
