Buffalo Framing & Truss, LLC has been a cornerstone in the construction of Central Texas for over 30 years, specializing in turnkey framing, trusses, and wall panels. We are committed to excellence and believe that our success is driven by the outstanding individuals we hire. We are currently seeking a Buyer to join our team, a role that is pivotal in ensuring the procurement of high-quality lumber and building materials necessary for our truss and wall panel manufacturing processes. The Buyer will be responsible for purchasing commodity lumber and other essential materials for job packs that are delivered to both single-family and multi-family job sites. This position requires a proactive approach to managing inventory levels and usage, ensuring that we maintain cost-effective coverage for both current and future needs. In this role, the Buyer will interact with various stakeholders, including vendors, the Buyer Assistant, project coordinators, and personnel from our yard, manufacturing, and field teams. The Buyer will report directly to the Director of the department and will be expected to work on-site, as this is a non-remote position. The successful candidate will need to determine buying needs and develop strategies for managing inventory effectively. Daily and weekly purchasing of lumber and building materials from multiple vendors will be a key responsibility, along with coordinating the receipt of materials with receiving personnel. The Buyer will also analyze inventory turns, suggest deletions of obsolete stock, and implement cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy. Staying informed about the commodity lumber market is crucial, as the Buyer will need to recognize trends, supply constraints, and surpluses. The role also involves providing insights on purchasing strategies and market knowledge related to product pricing, margins, and value engineering. The Buyer will occasionally attend industry events to maintain relationships with vendors and customers, ensuring that they are up-to-date with the latest products and market developments.
