About the position

The Lunar Fluids & Thermal Systems Analysis Engineer III at Blue Origin plays a crucial role in the Lunar Permanence business unit, focusing on the development of Blue Moon lander product lines. This position involves conducting thermal and fluids analysis to define performance and operations for various spaceflight systems, contributing to the mission of enabling sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo to the lunar surface. The role requires a commitment to safety and collaboration within a diverse team, impacting the future of space exploration.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thermal and fluids analysis for spaceflight systems.
  • Define hardware requirements and resolve technical challenges.
  • Take ownership of analysis tasks for complex fluid systems.
  • Contribute to the product life cycle process from conceptual design to flight mission completion.
  • Document and maintain analysis inputs and models.
  • Present analysis results to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • More than five years of direct experience in Space applications Fluids & Propulsion analysis.
  • Strong understanding of thermal and fluid mechanics of Cryogenics, preferably in the space industry.
  • Experience with Thermal Desktop/SINDA/FLUINT.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with modeling propulsion/cryogenic fluids management.
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools like Flow3D, CFD++, ANSYS Fluent.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, Amesim.
  • Advanced graduate degrees (Masters or PhD).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++, FORTRAN.
