About the position

The Lunar Vehicle Build Integration Lead at Blue Origin is a pivotal role focused on leading spacecraft build integration efforts for the Lunar Moon lander product lines. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality to ensure safe human spaceflight. The role involves collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams to develop sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface, ultimately contributing to Blue Origin's vision of enabling millions of people to live and work in space.

Responsibilities

  • Assess Master Equipment List (MEL), Bill of Materials (BOM), and facilities to develop the overall final assembly solution for the spacecraft
  • Develop high-level spacecraft assembly planning products including build flow for spacecraft major assemblies
  • Develop the final assembly and test portion of the integrated master schedule in coordination with I&T and other stakeholders
  • Engage directly with the operations team to ensure the build solution meets the needs of the program
  • Act as primary program point of contact for the operations team for vehicle final assembly efforts
  • Oversee and support build operations on the factory floor
  • Collaborate with material resource planning, production planning and control, manufacturing engineers, tooling engineers, project managers, and technicians to drive results

Requirements

  • Experience planning and executing aerospace manufacturing and assembly operations
  • Experience leading a team of engineers
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry manufacturing methods and standards
  • Familiarity with the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Typically 8 or more years of experience
  • Ability to travel as needed to support I&T planning and execution
  • Ability to support odd hours and long weeks during build execution
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience on NASA programs and human spaceflight programs
  • Experience leading system-level I&T campaigns on large spacecraft
  • Experience defining, designing, and/or operating spacecraft ground support equipment
  • Experience with scripting (Python or other scripting language)
  • Experience with project planning, project controls, scheduling, MRP, manufacturing, final assembly, aerospace, quality engineering standards, cleanroom processes
