About the position

The Senior Designer will provide essential support to the Creative and Marketing teams while working onsite in a hybrid model for our luxury beauty client in New York City. This role is crucial in assisting with the production, creation, and adaptation of various graphics, production files, 2D and 3D renderings, graphic strips, displays, print and POS design, as well as addressing architectural needs across diverse retail environments such as shop-in-shop setups, free-standing stores, pop-up events, trade shows, and more. The position is a freelance opportunity covering a leave of absence for a duration of 5 to 7 months. A keen eye for beauty and fashion is essential for this role, as the candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong graphic abilities alongside an understanding of architectural design. The Senior Designer will be responsible for developing graphics, architectural drawings, 3D renders, and presentation boards that effectively convey construction, design intent, and merchandising requirements for retail environments and fixtures. The role requires a collaborative spirit, as the designer will work closely with team members while also being capable of taking initiative to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities efficiently is critical, as is maintaining a sense of urgency to meet deadlines. In addition to aiding in the creation and execution of new design efforts for retail fixtures, store layouts, visual displays, and graphic applications, the designer will also contribute to the development of 3D renderings and design intent drawings for internal meetings, vendors, and local store execution. Proficiency in SketchUp is a must, as the designer will be responsible for building print-ready files for direct submission to print vendors for prototypes. The role demands high levels of organization and attention to detail, including maintaining working calendars and timelines to ensure timely rollout of all materials. The designer will also assist with printing and production tasks, including proofing and press checks, while keeping files organized on servers for easy retrieval. Maintaining brand consistency across all touchpoints and being open to feedback are essential traits for success in this position. Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary to articulate ideas clearly and foster good interactions with cross-functional partners and internal teams. The designer should possess strong technical skills and a comprehensive understanding of developing structures and displays, along with excellent layout and design capabilities. Staying updated with industry developments and tools is also a key aspect of this role, as is the willingness to contribute creatively to the team.
