About the position

The LVC Engineering Technician IV position at Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation involves supporting Large Area Tracking Range (LATR) operations, primarily for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The role requires technical expertise in system analysis, troubleshooting, and maintaining various tracking systems, while also providing training and guidance to lower-level technicians. The technician will be responsible for ensuring the quality of operations, compliance with contract requirements, and effective communication with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support Large Area Tracking Range (LATR) Operations responsibilities according to applicable directives and plans.
  • Draw on experience in U.S. Navy fleet operations to support staffs ashore and afloat conducting fleet exercises.
  • Apply system analysis and design skills in portable workstation interoperability and shipboard local area networking.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the LATR system and associated displays and computer applications.
  • Install, setup, monitor, and debrief various LATR operations.
  • Coordinate instrumentation and support for major multi-platform operations and exercises.
  • Transport, install, and de-install Iridium Tracking Units (ITU) on ships and vehicles as required.
  • Provide technical support to the hosting naval entity and collect exercise participant information from multiple sources.
  • Combine all data collected into a single source debrief product and provide it to designated agencies.
  • Train and provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
  • Document maintenance actions and provide recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and take corrective actions when necessary.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy 'C' School or vocational school in computers or electronics.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (within 6 months of hire).
  • Current Security + certification (within six months of hire).
  • Ability to deploy onboard a naval ship and to remote sites for up to five weeks at a time, one to two times a year.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a fully adjudicated secret security clearance.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Tactical Combat Training System (TCTS) components.
  • Knowledge of Navy fleet operations and training processes.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining computer systems.
