About the position

The LVN Floor Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to residents in accordance with physician orders and established nursing standards. This role involves monitoring residents' physical and emotional status, administering medications, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation protocols. The nurse will also participate in care planning and staff development, while promoting residents' rights and maintaining effective communication with residents, families, and the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review medical records and nurse's notes, and assess residents' physical and emotional status.
  • Monitor resident activity and evaluate nursing care according to professional standards.
  • Provide nursing care according to physician's orders and facility policies.
  • Coordinate and assist with new admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents.
  • Transcribe physician's telephone orders and communicate with residents and families regarding resident status.
  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Sign, date, and perform all charting and record keeping in accordance with established policies.
  • Lead and monitor licensed and other professionals, scheduling job assignments and setting priorities.
  • Assist in developing and implementing written care plans for individual residents.
  • Participate in in-service training and maintain professional competence.
  • Monitor environment and care practices to ensure compliance with safety and infection control policies.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State.
  • Experience as a Charge Nurse or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be CPR Certified.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to complete continuing education hours as required by the State.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and coordinate plans effectively.
