About the position

The Department of Public Health is actively seeking Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) I and LVN II to join their team throughout San Bernardino County, CA. This role is essential in providing quality healthcare services to the community, with a focus on patient care and education. LVNs will be responsible for preparing patients for medical procedures, assisting medical staff with various treatments, and offering health education, referrals, and resources to patients. The position requires conducting home visits to provide care and education, as well as assisting physicians and registered nurses in a variety of procedures. Immediate vacancies are available in the Victor Valley (Hesperia) area, which is classified as a remote assignment location. Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their availability and preference for this location during the application process. The eligible list established may also be utilized to fill future vacancies within the Department of Public Health as they arise. In addition to the standard benefits package, candidates may opt for the Modified Benefit Option (MBO), which offers an increased base pay rate of $1.75 per hour above the standard rate, albeit with modified benefits. Newly hired employees may also be eligible for a recruitment and retention bonus of up to $2,000, as well as a remote assignment bonus of up to $2,000 for those assigned to remote areas. It is important to note that all required licensure and certifications must be obtained prior to the start of employment and maintained throughout the duration of employment. Candidates must also possess a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance, as travel throughout the county is a requirement of the job.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Valid Vocational Nurse License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (CA BVNPT).
  • Valid Intravenous (IV) Therapy/Blood Withdrawal certification for LVN issued by a provider approved by the CA BVNPT.
  • Valid Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • For LVN II applicants: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in a clinic or outpatient care work setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual skills in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged.
  • Outpatient clinical experience, preferably in a Public Health setting.
