About the position

The LVN III position at the OC Anaheim Medical Center is a temporary, part-time role that requires the provision of nursing care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. The role is designed to align with the legal scope of practice and established standards of care, policies, and procedures. The successful candidate will demonstrate performance consistent with the organization's Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan, ensuring quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice. The position emphasizes treating co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team with dignity and respect. In this role, the LVN will uphold Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws. Responsibilities include performing patient care functions within the scope of competency, assisting medical personnel with special procedures, assessing and monitoring patients' conditions, preparing and administering medications, and maintaining equipment and supplies. The LVN will also apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control, monitor patient flow, provide medical information and education to patients, and document pertinent patient information following established protocols. The position requires the LVN to explain the purpose and process of examinations, tests, and medical procedures to patients, instruct them on general health and self-care procedures, and administer first aid as needed. The LVN will also participate in the development of nursing care plans, perform surgical preps, and assist physicians with various procedures. Administrative duties include scheduling appointments, maintaining department logs, and ordering medical supplies. The LVN is expected to model ethical behavior and adhere to organizational policies, supporting compliance initiatives and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable laws.
  • Perform patient care functions within the scope of competency, considering age-related needs of the patient.
  • Assist medical personnel with special procedures, minor surgical procedures, and diagnostic exams.
  • Assess and monitor patients' conditions and notify healthcare professionals for disposition.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by physician orders following established protocols.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, identifying and arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control as directed by the Infection Control Manual.
  • Monitor patient flow and assign/direct other ancillary personnel as needed.
  • Provide medical information and education to patients, following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Document pertinent patient information, assessments, and nursing procedures following established protocols.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of recent experience as a LVN in an acute/outpatient setting.
  • Vocational Nurse License (California).
  • I.V. Certification.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
