The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) position at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Irvine, CA, is a vital role within the urgent care setting. Under the direction of a registered nurse, the LVN provides care in accordance with the Vocational Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards. This position involves assisting in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, ensuring that all procedures are followed meticulously. The LVN is responsible for patient identification procedures, providing necessary information for all patient procedures, and collecting and handling specimens appropriately. In addition to direct patient care, the LVN assesses and implements prescribed interventions, documents discharge plans, and recognizes ethical, legal, and medical dilemmas that may arise in nursing practice. The role requires collaboration with other healthcare team members to ensure the delivery of timely, safe, and quality care across the continuum. The LVN also participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment and is responsible for the care and maintenance of department equipment. Accurate charting of patient records and record-keeping of equipment and quality measures are essential duties of this position. The LVN must provide a safe, HIPAA-compliant environment for both patients and staff, and may be assigned additional duties as needed. Responsibilities
- Provide care under the direction of a registered nurse within the scope of the Vocational Nurse Practice Act.
- Assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Follow patient identification procedures and provide appropriate information for all patient procedures.
- Collect and handle specimens as required.
- Assess and implement prescribed interventions for patients.
- Implement and document discharge plans for each patient.
- Recognize ethical, legal, and medical dilemmas in nursing practice and consult with appropriate personnel.
- Participate in maintaining a safe patient care environment.
- Assist with the care and maintenance of department equipment.
- Complete accurate charting of patient records and record-keeping of equipment and quality measures.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure timely, safe, and quality care delivery.

Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current LVN License to practice in the State of California.
- Current BLS Certification.
- One or more years of experience in a healthcare facility.
- Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
