About the position
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at Memorial Hermann is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a clinical setting. This role involves coordinating nursing care with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring safe and effective patient management, and supporting the overall mission of creating healthier communities. The LVN will work with patients across various specialties, demonstrating clinical proficiency and a commitment to compassionate care.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the planning for the delivery of nursing care with a multidisciplinary team.
- Administer appropriate clinical decisions in the delivery of care, utilizing existing resources and staff.
- Deliver appropriate care to patients, including specialized skills tailored to the patient's age and needs.
- Ensure safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Review patient charts prior to appointments to ensure all necessary lab work and diagnostic procedures are completed.
- Record patient vital signs and use the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) appropriately.
- Assist providers with patient examinations and procedures, including surgical and diagnostic studies.
- Conduct hearing, vision, breathing, and EKG testing; record results in the chart.
- Administer medications as directed, following the seven rights of medication administration.
- Perform venipuncture, collect urine specimens, and complete lab test procedures according to policies.
- Recognize emergency situations and intervene appropriately, notifying the necessary personnel.
- Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting continuing education requirements.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Vocational Nursing required.
- Current State of Texas license/permit to practice Vocational Nursing (LVN).
- Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification or within 30 days of hire.
- Primary care clinic experience preferred.
- Demonstrates ability to maintain good communications and establish positive working relationships.
