About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) position at Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is responsible for providing nursing care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. This role involves performing various nursing tasks such as EKGs, vaccinations, and health screenings, while ensuring quality care and patient advocacy. The LVN collaborates with the healthcare team to facilitate effective treatment outcomes and participates in patient education and care planning.

Requirements

• Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for LVN.
• One year of experience as an LVN preferred.
• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) State Licensure within 75 days or Temporary State Licensure within 75 days.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in an Ob-Gyn setting.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records systems.
• Bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population served, including EKGs, vaccinations, and health screenings.
• Communicate and collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to maintain quality care.
• Involve patients and families in care and teaching processes.
• Assist with exams and treatment, and maintain medical records.
• Advocate for patients and families to resolve clinical and ethical concerns.
• Document care accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and support patient safety initiatives.
