About the position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - Outpatient Level II at Kaiser Permanente's Family Medicine Clinic in Riverside, CA, provides essential nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. This role emphasizes quality patient care, effective communication, and adherence to established healthcare standards and policies. The LVN is responsible for various clinical tasks, patient interactions, and supporting the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers.
• Provide therapeutic patient care as established by physician/advanced practice providers and/or a registered nurse.
• Transcribe physician/advanced practice providers orders as directed by policy.
• Communicate with a registered nurse to institute changes in the plan of care.
• Administer specified medication accurately following provider orders.
• Execute treatments such as urinary catheterizations and intravenous catheter placements.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
• Perform patient care functions such as taking vital signs and wound care.
• Assist medical staff with examinations and treatments by providing necessary support.
• Document patient conditions and report unusual findings to the registered nurse/advanced practice providers.
• Collect and process specimens per policy and procedures.
• Provide non-complex patient education following the care plan.
• Ensure cleanliness of nursing module/station and proper functioning of equipment.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-service programs.
• Assist in ordering and stocking of supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum of twelve (12) months of LVN direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Vocational Nurse License (California).
• Basic Life Support certification.

Nice-to-haves

• IV Certification and Blood Withdrawal Certification preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) Level II required.
