About the position

The LVN - Outpatient - Level II position at Kaiser Permanente involves providing nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. The role emphasizes quality patient care, adherence to established policies and procedures, and effective communication with the healthcare team. The LVN will perform various clinical tasks, assist in patient examinations, and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers.
  • Provide therapeutic patient care as established by physician/advanced practice providers and/or a registered nurse.
  • Transcribe physician/advanced practice providers orders as directed by policy.
  • Communicate with a registered nurse to institute changes in the plan of care.
  • Administer specified medication accurately following provider orders.
  • Execute treatments such as urinary catheterizations and intravenous catheter placements.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
  • Perform patient care functions such as taking vital signs and wound care.
  • Assist medical staff with examinations and treatments by providing necessary support.
  • Observe and document patients' conditions and report unusual findings to the registered nurse.
  • Collect and process specimens per policy and procedures.
  • Provide non-complex patient education as directed by the healthcare team.
  • Ensure cleanliness of nursing module/station and proper functioning of patient care equipment.
  • Utilize effective verbal and non-verbal communication forms.
  • Participate in staff meetings and in-service programs.
  • Assist in ordering and stocking of module/department supplies.
  • Support patient communication and message management.
  • Administer various therapies including oxygen therapy and suctioning.
  • Document care in Health Connect per policy and procedures.
  • Assist in coordinating the discharge process.

Requirements

  • Minimum twelve (12) months of LVN direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Vocational Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • IV Certification and Blood Withdrawal Certification preferred.
