About the position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) position in Beaumont, TX, is a full-time role focused on providing nursing services and care in a correctional facility. The LVN will be responsible for administering medications, assisting physicians, and ensuring the health and safety of inmates. This position requires a night shift schedule and offers a variety of nursing tasks across different settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing services, treatments, and diagnostic and preventive procedures appropriate for inmate care and safety.
  • Interprets physicians' orders and administers prescribed medication.
  • Assists the physician with sick calls when present.
  • Applies surgical dressings and bandages.
  • Provides emergency first aid care and checks and records vital signs.
  • Instructs inmates concerning discharge planning and observes signs and symptoms during sick calls when the physician is not present.
  • Reports reactions to treatments and medications as well as changes in the inmates' emotional or physical condition.
  • May instruct and supervise correctional staff concerning inmate health care and needs.
  • Consults with supervisor on problem cases and checks and orders supplies.
  • Maintains accurate medical records and provides health care education to inmates.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
  • 1+ year of Med/Surg, LTAC experience.
  • Current BLS-HP certification required.
  • IV Therapy Certification for LVNs.
