About the position

The LWD General Field Professional is responsible for supervising the Logging-While-Drilling (LWD) process on-site, ensuring accurate data acquisition, log generation, and quality control. This role involves leading engineering efforts, providing technical consultation to clients, and ensuring that all services meet high-quality standards. The position requires effective communication and problem-solving skills to address operational challenges and foster teamwork among personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site supervision of the Logging-While-Drilling (LWD) process.
  • Serve as the lead engineer on most jobs, ensuring data accuracy and service quality.
  • Provide technical consultation to clients on various drilling and formation evaluation aspects.
  • Test all tools and equipment before, during, and after each job.
  • Identify and correct operational problems to minimize service impact.
  • Complete all required forms, databases, and reports accurately.
  • Ensure Bottom Hole Assemblies (BHAs) are assembled as planned.
  • Interface with the Directional Driller to ensure BHA compatibility and correct tool face references.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and ensure resource availability.
  • Complete and distribute daily LWD reports to clients and coordinators.
  • Submit accurate daily costs for LWD services where applicable.
  • Assist in evaluating individual performance levels of onsite LWD personnel.
  • Assist in training and developing junior personnel.
  • Foster teamwork among all personnel involved in the work.

Requirements

  • Proficient in LWD software and able to provide advice and analysis at the well site.
  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of four years of field experience in LWD.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline is preferred.
  • Completion of the basic M/LWD training program required.
  • Must have successfully passed company tests or met task guideline requirements.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude to required standards.
  • Good communication, arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret formation well logs and directional survey information.
  • Possess relevant on and offshore safety certificates.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced geosteering services.
  • Familiarity with drilling tendencies and mud system dynamics.
