About the position

As a Certified Lymphedema Therapist at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care to patients with lymphedema. Your primary responsibilities will include evaluating, planning, and administering treatment techniques as prescribed by physicians. You will be expected to administer patient treatments professionally and in accordance with hospital standards, ensuring timely and thorough documentation of all patient interactions. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, and rehabilitation staff. Your commitment to customer service will be exemplified through your interactions with patients and colleagues alike. In this part-time position, you will be working from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Tuesday through Friday, at our facility located in Merriam, Kansas. You will be responsible for developing and implementing treatment plans, ensuring that all documentation is completed in accordance with departmental guidelines. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, and administer appropriate treatment techniques as prescribed by a physician.
  • Administer patient treatments in a professional manner and within hospital standards.
  • Complete timely and thorough documentation of patient care.
  • Work directly with a multidisciplinary team including physicians and various therapists.
  • Exemplify customer service in all interactions with patients and staff.
  • Maintain a professional team relationship with co-workers by being considerate and supportive.
  • Communicate honestly and confront issues in a private setting.
  • Consult with physicians regarding diagnostic results as appropriate.
  • Delegate and supervise patient care duties performed by assistants and technicians.
  • Obtain physician's written prescription and approval for treatment changes as needed.
  • Project a positive image through high professional standards of conduct and appearance.
  • Promote patient dignity by maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
  • Utilize modalities and procedures with knowledge of contraindications related to age and diagnosis.
  • Complete all documentation in accordance with department practice, policy, and procedure.
  • Educate patients and/or their families in self-care and prevention strategies.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans using appropriate techniques within physician's prescription.
  • Review and revise treatment programs as indicated and provide quality patient care skills.
  • Participate constructively in department inservices, meetings, and activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • No previous experience is required.
  • Kansas License as an Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist.
  • Certified Lymphedema Therapist (highly preferred).
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
