About the position

The M/E Data Center Technician is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance on all building systems within a data center environment. This includes critical systems such as fire/life safety, HVAC, electrical systems, and emergency backup systems. The technician ensures the continuous operation of these systems, troubleshoots issues, and performs necessary repairs to maintain optimal functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on building systems including fire/life safety, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Monitor operation and maintain refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Install and repair plumbing, piping, and tubing; wire motors and run conduit.
  • Operate and maintain critical equipment including UPS systems, generators, and chillers.
  • Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Oversee activities of contractors working within the building and ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • Maintain records of building rounds, engineering logs, and data sheets.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with emergency escalation procedures.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in a data center/critical facility, including UPS systems and emergency generators.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC's (or within 90 days of employment).
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.
