About the position

The M&M'S Production Assistant position at Mars, Incorporated is a full-time role based in Cleveland, Tennessee, specifically designed for the 12-hour night shift. This position is integral to the chocolate manufacturing process, where the assistant will perform various routine tasks in an assigned area, adhering to defined standard operating procedures. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including cleaning, basic operation of equipment, operating forklifts, hand packing products, monitoring controls, and assisting with equipment changeover activities. The Production Assistant will be expected to perform a wide range of semi-skilled and unskilled jobs to support production operations effectively. This includes non-maintenance tasks necessary to maintain product flow and routine equipment operation, such as clearing jams, cleaning screens, and disposing of defective products or raw materials. The assistant will operate area equipment or subsystems safely and efficiently, following established standard operating procedures. In addition to equipment operation, the role requires maintaining the efficient operation of assigned equipment and subsystems through daily cleaning and routine adjustments, generating work orders as needed. The assistant will also be responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work area, tools, and equipment, while assisting other associates in meeting visual workplace requirements. Hand packing duties will include bulk packing, six-packing, and end-of-line packing. Monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining product quality while straightening rows on the main distribution line is also a critical aspect of this position. Finally, the assistant will prepare and ship finished goods according to established standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of semi-skilled and unskilled jobs to support production operations.
  • Perform non-maintenance tasks needed to maintain product flow and routine equipment operation, including clearing jams and cleaning screens.
  • Operate area equipment or subsystems safely and efficiently using established standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain efficient operation of assigned equipment and subsystems via daily cleaning and routine adjustments, generating work orders as needed.
  • Perform cleaning and area setup.
  • Maintain assigned work area, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and professional manner.
  • Assist other associates in maintaining visual workplace requirements for the entire area.
  • Perform hand packing, including bulk pack, six pack, and end of line.
  • Monitor, inspect, and maintain product quality while straightening rows on the main distribution line.
  • Prepare and ship finished goods according to established standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to lift 55lbs.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, communicate, read, and write basic work-related English.
