About the position

The mRNA Computational Biology, Senior Data Scientist position at Sanofi involves collaborating with scientific and technical experts to apply bioinformatics, statistical, and computational methods to preclinical and translational research data. The role focuses on developing and deploying digital solutions to enhance data integration and analytics, ultimately driving the success of mRNA vaccine and therapeutic development.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with scientific and technical experts within the mRNA Center of Excellence.
  • Design, develop and validate robust solutions and pipelines leveraging bioinformatics and statistical models.
  • Explore and analyze complex, multi-modal data to understand mode of action and identify predictive biomarkers.
  • Develop and evaluate predictive models using machine learning methods to predict clinical outcomes from preclinical studies.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, hypothesis generation, and validation through data integration and advanced analytics.
  • Bring knowledge and expertise in statistics, data science, machine learning, and modeling to project teams.
  • Identify, assess, and internalize emerging technologies and methods.
  • Prepare and publish scientific papers and congress reports.
  • Generate IP and participate in the drafting of patent filings.

Requirements

  • PhD in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data and Computer Sciences, Systems Immunology, Computational Biology or equivalent.
  • In-depth understanding of statistical analysis, multi-variate analysis, clustering & dimension reduction approaches, regression methods, and machine learning techniques.
  • Experience delivering solutions based on machine learning, bioinformatics & statistical methods relevant to large scale analysis of complex healthcare data.
  • Proficient in scientific programming languages (R and/or Python).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly collaborative mindset and effective communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of vaccine discovery and development processes.
  • Familiarity with RNA biology and RNA-centric techniques/methods.
