About the position

The Electric Distribution Designer at M&S Engineering is responsible for producing electric distribution field designs, estimating projects, and preparing construction prints using electronic design and estimation software. This role requires a high level of organization, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The position involves direct interaction with clients and requires a strong understanding of electric distribution design methodologies and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Produce electric distribution field designs and staking of distribution facilities.
  • Estimate projects and prepare construction prints using electronic design/estimation software.
  • Represent M&S Engineering professionally in meetings with property owners and other stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with changing technologies and design methodologies in Electric Distribution Design.
  • Mentor and train other staff members in design knowledge.
  • Perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading and construction practices.
  • Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work products.
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize design iterations effectively.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Work outdoors in various climate conditions and travel for project needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Current Texas Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in electric distribution design and estimation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree or certificate in Electric Power Technology.
  • Three years of prior experience with electric distribution design.
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of Electric Distribution construction framing techniques and components.
  • Experience with surveying equipment and geospatial data collection.
  • Familiarity with NESC and its applications to electric distribution line design.
