About the position

The M365/Azure Cloud Engineer position is a senior technology role that reports to the IT Manager of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure. This role is designed for a subject matter expert (SME) in Microsoft 365 and Azure, who will play a crucial role in enabling various IT functions including Architecture, Engineering, Operations, Security, and project management teams. The engineer will facilitate the successful delivery of complex initiatives and priorities within the organization. The position is remote but requires adherence to East Coast hours (8-5 EST) and may involve travel to New York for training and onboarding. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing solutions within the Azure cloud environment, which includes Azure Virtual Desktops (AVDs), Identity, and Storage resources. The engineer will also administer and support the Microsoft 365 suite, which encompasses Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune, and OneDrive for Business. Collaboration with IT security teams is essential to implement and maintain security best practices across Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms, ensuring compliance with established security standards and policies. The M365/Azure Cloud Engineer will act as an operational resource, monitoring, repairing, and remediating issues that frontline troubleshooting cannot resolve. Responsibilities also include training and educating frontline support teams to assist with customer issue resolution. Staying updated on the latest Azure services and technologies is crucial, as is the practical understanding of network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, and application gateways. The engineer will lead the operation, configuration, and monitoring of cloud infrastructure and resources, configure and manage monitoring, alerting, and reporting of key performance indicators, and perform scheduled maintenance and updates.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage solutions within the Azure cloud environment including AVD's, Identity, and Storage resources.
  • Administer and support the Microsoft 365 suite, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune, and OneDrive for Business.
  • Work closely with IT security teams to implement and maintain security best practices across Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms, ensuring compliance with security standards and policies.
  • Monitor, repair, and remediate issues not resolved by frontline troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with frontline support teams for training and education to assist with customer issue resolution.
  • Stay abreast of the latest Azure services and technologies and incorporate these into solutions.
  • Lead the operation, configuration, and monitoring of cloud infrastructure and resources.
  • Configure and manage monitoring, alerting, and reporting of key performance indicators.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Windows system administration, focusing on private and public cloud platforms.
  • 5 years' experience in a production IT environment managing enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting services, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in Azure cloud services and Microsoft 365 administration and support.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies.
  • Expertise in PowerShell scripting and automation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability to define problem statements, workarounds, and root cause resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Team player with excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management concepts (IDAM).
  • Experience with Active Directory and GPO's.
  • Understanding of Microsoft EntraID and conditional access policies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.
  • Experience with a GCC High tenant preferred.
