About the position

The Mac Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for providing expert support for Apple and Windows platforms, ensuring the smooth operation of computer systems and applications. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and installing hardware and software, as well as analyzing user needs and implementing solutions. The engineer will work both independently and collaboratively with team members to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, administer, maintain, monitor, and install hardware and software applications.
  • Recommend, design, implement, and install computer software applications.
  • Troubleshoot, detect, isolate, and resolve information system problems.
  • Analyze and assess the technological needs of users.
  • Independently perform systems analysis activities.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and upgrade information systems.
  • Evaluate, test, implement, and support new operating systems.
  • Monitor, maintain, and administer a variety of operating systems.
  • Work irregular and protracted hours, including weekends.
  • Establish and maintain excellent, effective, and professional working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members and staff.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Recognize problems and develop recommendations and solutions.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Requirements

  • Expert understanding of the Apple and Windows platforms.
  • Knowledge of application development, system design, programming, and software installation.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and security principles related to computer information systems.
  • Understanding of computer science and information systems principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in software troubleshooting techniques.
  • Operational knowledge of various computer platforms and operating systems.
  • Experience with installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of information systems and software applications.
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal codes, laws, and regulations.
  • Experience with applications systems programming.
  • Familiarity with personal computer hardware and software components.
  • Understanding of various computer programs, networks, software packages, and programming languages.
  • Expert knowledge of Apple desktop/laptop/iOS devices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of UNIX and networking/Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Adobe products, Global Service Exchange, Microsoft Office, and FileMaker Pro.
  • Experience with Record management Systems, Staffing Systems, and Software Management Tools.
