About the position

The Algorithm Validation Engineer will be part of the Product Systems Quality team at Apple, focusing on delivering high-quality Computer Vision and Machine Learning algorithms for next-generation products. This role involves collaborating with algorithm development teams to design and execute testing procedures that enhance algorithm performance and user experience. The engineer will evaluate system performance, work with hardware and software teams, and contribute to making Apple products more reliable and user-friendly.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute live test procedures and user studies to improve ML algorithm performance.
• Conduct aggressor searches and manage annotation pipelines for comprehensive testing.
• Evaluate end-to-end system performance to represent true customer experience.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to consider system design factors influencing model performance.
• Refine models that enhance Apple's user experience through creativity and innovation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong programming skills with hands-on experience in Python.
• Experience in testing products utilizing computer vision, computational photography, or machine learning.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Academic background in data science, machine learning, or statistical data analysis.
• Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Familiarity with CoreML, Swift, and iOS/macOS machine learning development.
• Experience in data analysis and visualization tools like Tableau or Superset.
• Understanding of performance testing for various sensing technologies.
