About the position

At AMD, we are committed to transforming lives through our technology, and we are excited to offer an internship opportunity in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for undergraduate students for the Spring 2025 term. This role is designed for students who are eager to contribute to AMD's next generation of technology innovations while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment. As an intern, you will work full-time (40 hours a week) in a hybrid structure, allowing you to balance on-site and remote work. The internship will run from January 27, 2025, to May 2, 2025, and will take place in either Santa Clara or San Jose, California. During your internship, you will have the chance to collaborate with experienced engineers and leaders in the field of Machine Learning and AI. You will receive one-on-one mentorship, participate in networking events, and engage in meaningful projects that will enhance your skills and knowledge. Your responsibilities will include researching and developing next-generation product features, analyzing and implementing algorithm changes to improve AI performance, and working on various projects such as source code analysis and image corruption detection. You will also support AI software teams in roadmap planning and customer engagements, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the industry and the opportunity to make a real impact. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science/Analytics, or a related field, preferably in their 3rd or 4th year of study. If you have a passion for machine learning, data science, and AI, and possess programming skills in Python or C/C++, we encourage you to apply. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with ML/AI engineers on research and development of product differentiation features.
  • Analyze and implement changes to algorithms to improve AI performance and user experiences.
  • Work on machine learning techniques for source code analysis and image corruption detection.
  • Research, develop, and deploy machine learning-based and computer vision products.
  • Address problems with deployed AI to enhance user experience.
  • Support AI software teams with roadmap planning and collateral development.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a US-based University in a Bachelor's degree program majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science/Analytics, or a related field.
  • Preferably in your 3rd or 4th year of education.
  • Knowledge or experience in machine learning, data science, computer vision, statistics, and mathematics.
  • Programming skills in Python and C/C++.
  • Familiarity with relational (SQL) and no-SQL databases.
  • Understanding of machine learning algorithms and frameworks.
  • Experience with deep learning/AI frameworks like Pytorch, Tensorflow, or Caffe.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
