About the position

At AMD, we are committed to transforming lives through our technology, and as a Program Manager in the AIG Software Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in driving the end-to-end delivery of our cutting-edge AI software technology stack across various AI platforms. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with product management, customers, and engineering teams to tackle real-world inference problems using our AI software stack, SDK, and tools. In this role, you will work closely with engineering managers, software developers, and product managers to plan and execute multiple software development projects. You will define comprehensive project plans, assess the technical feasibility of new products, and develop schedules that consider various software stack components and hardware dependencies. Your responsibilities will include driving project execution, improving processes for project tracking and risk mitigation, and ensuring that all program commitments are met within the defined schedule, budget, and scope. As a key liaison between development and other partners, you will be responsible for resource tracking, status reporting, and issue messaging to senior executives and customers. You will prepare and deliver project status updates and reviews, investigate technical aspects of the program, and lead cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong engineering background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for new technology.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end delivery of AI software technology stack across several AI platforms.
  • Work closely with engineering managers, software developers, and product managers to drive project planning and execution.
  • Define comprehensive project plans and drive projects based on management and senior technical mentorship.
  • Scope technical feasibility of new products by clarifying and analyzing requirements with SW/HW Architects, Technical Leads, and SW Engineers.
  • Develop SW program schedule considering various driver, SW stack components, and HW/FW dependencies.
  • Negotiate and build a staffing plan that supports the schedule.
  • Drive the development and execution of project plans and schedules; develop and improve processes for project tracking and risk mitigation.
  • Deliver on all assigned program commitments from inception through execution.
  • Act as a key liaison between DEV and other partners on all matters pertaining to successful project execution.
  • Prepare and deliver project status updates and reviews to key internal partners.
  • Investigate technical aspects of the program and help drive details in compiler, runtime, and tools software development teams.
  • Lead across several functional organizations, including business units, other engineering organizations, and finance/operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Project Management industry experience leading large and complex software products.
  • Strong presentation and leadership skills with the ability to lead technical discussions.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in leading sophisticated, interrelated projects, programs, and functions.
  • Experience working with customers is an asset.
  • Experience program running Linux and Windows-based products is a plus.
  • Experience using tools such as JIRA, JAMA, Confluence, SharePoint, MS-Project 2019, Jenkins & Robot Frameworks.
  • Experience with AI/ML strongly desired.
  • Experience in virtualization frameworks (Linux KVM, etc.) is desired.
  • Experience in containerization frameworks (Docker, etc.).
  • Software development experience.
  • PMP certification is highly desirable.
