About the position

PayPal, Inc. is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer 3 to join our team in New York, NY. In this role, you will be responsible for developing state-of-the-art machine learning solutions that address impactful business problems. You will collaborate closely with partners to translate business challenges into data science and machine learning problems, providing actionable insights and solutions. Your work will involve producing and automating large-scale end-to-end data solutions in partnership with PayPal's engineering teams. You will utilize your familiarity with relevant machine learning frameworks and packages, such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, as well as your experience with GCP/Hadoop and big data technologies. The role requires knowledge in deep learning, reinforcement learning, graph modeling, learning to rank, recommendations, growth marketing models, and regression modeling. Effective communication with business and engineering partners is essential, as you will need to exchange requirements, explain solution methodologies, and influence decisions with your insights. To succeed in this position, you should possess proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python, Java, Scala, SQL, and Hive. This role is pivotal in driving innovation and enhancing the capabilities of our machine learning initiatives at PayPal, contributing to our mission of creating a more inclusive and efficient global economy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop state-of-the-art machine learning solutions to solve impactful business problems.
  • Collaborate with partners to formulate business challenges into data science and machine learning problems.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of experience in machine learning or a related occupation.
  • Statistical analysis and large-scale computing experience.
  • Proficiency in computational algorithms.
  • Experience in programming and big data visualization methods.
  • Knowledge of mathematical modeling and hypothesis testing.
  • Familiarity with SQL and Bayesian statistical inference.

Nice-to-haves
