About the position

The Machine Learning Engineer (MLE) position within Amazon's Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team focuses on developing advanced multi-modal and multi-lingual Large Language Models (LLMs). The role involves leading the creation of innovative algorithms and modeling techniques that enhance large model training using state-of-the-art hardware. The MLE will leverage Amazon's extensive data resources and computing capabilities to drive the development of Generative AI applications, significantly impacting customer experiences through groundbreaking products and services.

Responsibilities

• Quickly learn cutting-edge technologies and algorithms in Generative AI to contribute to building the best LLMs.
• Develop and maintain key platforms for developing, evaluating, and deploying LLMs for real-world applications.
• Collaborate with team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility.
• Work closely with Applied Scientists to process massive data and scale machine learning models while optimizing.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Nice-to-haves

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Master's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Experience in techniques like kernel fusion and custom kernels to improve GPU utilization, mixed precision training, and efficient memory management.
