About the position

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer will play a crucial role in developing advanced Computer Vision models to enhance DoorDash's grocery and retail delivery services. This position focuses on creating production-level machine learning solutions that address consumer vision challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation and improve user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop production machine learning solutions for consumer vision problems such as entity recognition, object detection, and image classification.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders across engineering, product, and business strategy to shape a machine learning-driven product roadmap.
• Explore diverse data sources and foster a culture of flexible experimentation to improve shopping and dashing experiences.
• Drive impact and support personal and professional growth within a growing team.
• Innovate and experiment with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in AI and ML.

Requirements

• Industry experience in developing machine learning models with significant business impact and shipping ML solutions to production.
• Deep expertise in applied Computer Vision, with hands-on experience in object detection, classification, and segmentation.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Spark.
• A Master's or PhD in Computer Vision, Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Operations Research, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field is a plus.
• Familiarity with causal inference and experimentation techniques.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with large-scale data processing and distributed computing.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Java or C++.
