About the position

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, with a mission to inspire creativity and bring joy. The Trust and Safety team is rapidly expanding and is responsible for developing machine learning models and systems that protect users from negative content. This role involves leveraging state-of-the-art machine learning technologies to moderate the vast amounts of data generated on the platform, ensuring a safe and enjoyable user experience for billions of users worldwide. As a Machine Learning Engineer specializing in Computer Vision, you will be tasked with designing and developing advanced machine learning solutions that will be deployed directly to TikTok's global platform. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and business partners to identify and tackle the most challenging safety and integrity issues at an internet scale. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in machine learning, particularly in content understanding, and will have a solid background in software engineering. Your responsibilities will include leading the development of content understanding models for content moderation, working with various content understanding techniques such as unimodal and multimodal classifiers, graph models, and representation learning models. You will also collaborate with product teams to define business objectives and enhance the trust and safety strategy, as well as work with engineering teams to deploy machine learning models and design online model workflows at scale. Additionally, you will partner with data scientists to address key challenges and propose data-driven strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and build content understanding models for content moderation.
• Work on state-of-the-art content understanding techniques including unimodal/multimodal content classifiers, graph models, representation learning models, and LLM.
• Collaborate with product teams to define business objectives and improve trust and safety strategy.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy machine learning models, design online model workflow, and implement serving pipeline at scale.
• Collaborate with data scientist team to understand the key challenges and propose data-driven strategies.

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operation Research, Applied Mathematics, Physics or similar quantitative fields, with 2+ years of related experience.
• Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning (CV/NLP/Multimodal/Graph/LLM), statistical models and applied mathematical methods.
• Strong coding skills, especially in Python and similar languages.
• Curiosity towards new technologies and entrepreneurship, good communication and teamwork skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in LLM, multimodal modeling, representation learning and/or publications in top AI/ML conferences are a plus.
• Understanding of the business value of content understanding and content moderation.
• Experience in developing online ML systems including ranking, retrieval.
