About the position

The Machine Learning Engineer, Computer Vision role at DoorDash involves developing and implementing advanced computer vision models to enhance the company's grocery and retail delivery services. The position focuses on creating production-level machine learning solutions that address various consumer vision challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving technical innovation in the field of AI and ML.

Responsibilities

• Develop production machine learning solutions for consumer vision problems such as entity recognition, object detection, and image classification.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders across engineering, product, and business strategy to shape a product roadmap driven by machine learning.
• Explore diverse data sources and foster a culture of flexible experimentation to improve shopping and dashing experiences.
• Drive impact and support personal and professional growth within a growing team.
• Innovate and experiment with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in AI and ML.

Requirements

• Industry experience developing machine learning models with business impact and shipping ML solutions to production.
• Deep expertise in applied Computer Vision, with hands-on experience in object detection, classification, and segmentation.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Spark.
• M.S. or PhD. in Computer Vision, Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Operations Research, Physics, Economics, or other quantitative fields is a plus.
• Familiarity with causal inference and experimentation techniques.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with large-scale data processing and distributed computing.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience in agile development methodologies.
