About the position

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, with a mission to inspire creativity and bring joy. The Trust and Safety team is rapidly expanding and is responsible for developing machine learning models and systems that protect users from negative content. This role as a University Graduate Machine Learning Engineer offers the opportunity to work with clients and teams to tackle significant business challenges and identify growth areas for the company. You will engage with state-of-the-art machine learning technologies to moderate the vast amounts of data generated on the platform, ensuring a positive user experience for billions of users and publishers worldwide. As part of the Trust and Safety team, you will collaborate with world-class engineers to build content understanding models for content moderation. Your work will involve utilizing advanced content understanding techniques, including unimodal and multimodal content classifiers, graph models, representation learning models, and large language models (LLM). You will also work closely with product teams to define business objectives and enhance the trust and safety strategy, as well as with engineering teams to deploy machine learning models and design online model workflows at scale. Additionally, you will collaborate with data scientists to understand key challenges and propose data-driven strategies to address them.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our world-class engineers to build content understanding models for content moderation.
  • Work on state-of-the-art content understanding techniques including but not limited to unimodal/multimodal content classifiers, graph models, representation learning models, and LLM.
  • Collaborate with product teams to define business objectives and improve trust and safety strategy.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy machine learning models, design online model workflow, and implement serving pipeline at scale.
  • Collaborate with data scientist team to understand the key challenges and propose data-driven strategies.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing your PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering field, and will graduate from December 2023 - September 2024.
  • Solid knowledge in at least one of the following areas: machine learning (CV/NLP/Multimodal/Graph/LLM), statistical models and applied mathematical methods.
  • Strong coding skills, especially in Python and similar languages.
  • Curiosity towards new technologies and entrepreneurship, good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Good understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Great communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion about techniques and solving challenging problems.
