About the position

The Machine Learning Engineer, Growth at Patreon is responsible for developing and deploying machine learning models that enhance the platform's capabilities for creators. This role involves conducting data analyses, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and iterating on machine learning solutions to support the company's mission of empowering creators. The position is hybrid, requiring in-office presence two days a week in either San Francisco or New York.

Responsibilities

• Conduct exploratory data analyses and proof-of-concept machine learning models to understand opportunities and potential project impact.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners, such as product, engineering, design, legal, and trust and safety to design effective machine learning solutions.
• Analyze and prepare training data, including using crowdsourcing data labeling techniques.
• Train and iterate on machine learning models using novel techniques.
• Deploy machine learning models to production and write backend code when necessary to properly deploy the model.
• Debug models when observability shows performance gaps, and iterate on models.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience working in an end-to-end machine learning team environment: analyzing data, building and iterating on machine learning models, writing production-level code and shipping to production, monitoring performance, and A/B testing.
• Proficient in writing clean and robust code in Python or other programming languages.
• Experience debugging complex systems with a systematic approach.
• Strong analytical skills with a curious mindset to dive deeply into datasets.
• Solid communication skills and ability to write clear documentation.
• Growth mindset with a desire to continuously improve soft and technical skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with crowdsourcing data labeling techniques.
• Familiarity with deploying machine learning models in production environments.
