About the position

The Machine Learning Engineer II position within Amazon's Search Science and Data Infrastructure team focuses on developing services and infrastructure that enhance machine learning capabilities for product search solutions. The role involves managing the machine learning lifecycle, building scalable data-intensive infrastructure, and collaborating with various teams to improve search functionalities across Amazon's platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of services and infrastructure at the intersection of machine learning, big data, and distributed systems.
  • Manage machine learning lifecycle and operations using AWS AI services and core search backend services.
  • Build scalable data-intensive infrastructure that processes large amounts of logs and transactional data.
  • Work with partners on data experimentation to advance Amazon product search across geographic regions.
  • Design, write code, and deploy big data and machine learning services that support Amazon's search R&D processes.
  • Evaluate system performance, security, and drive quality improvements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics, or natural language processing.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent.
