About the position

The Machine Learning Engineer III / Data Scientist III at Amex GBT is responsible for leveraging big data and advanced analytics techniques to enhance customer acquisition, engagement, and overall product experience. This role involves applying machine learning, data mining, and statistical modeling to solve real-world marketing problems, while also contributing to the deployment of machine learning solutions within a collaborative and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced analytic techniques such as machine learning, data mining, and statistical modeling to design and implement mathematical models and algorithms.
• Utilize solid coding skills and strong analytical thinking to develop innovative solutions.
• Manipulate large data sets to derive business insights and drive solutions.
• Communicate complex analytical topics clearly to various stakeholders, including senior leadership.
• Structure work and frame issues to produce analyses that address complex business questions.
• Have knowledge of infrastructure tools like AWS and Kubernetes.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 6+ years with a master's degree or equivalent.
• Ability to conceptualize business problems and solve them through data analysis.
• Proficient in SQL and PySpark for data manipulation.
• Strong written and oral communication skills across business areas.
• Familiarity with machine learning or statistics tools such as R, Stata, and Python.
• Strong data science knowledge and skills, particularly with large data sets.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Sagemaker or equivalent tools.
• Familiarity with Databricks and feature stores.
• Basic understanding of LLM, guardrails, and observability.
