About the position

The Data recommendation team at TikTok is focused on building and maintaining an industry-leading Recommender system that supports various business scenarios, including user growth, social networking, e-commerce, content creation, content discovery, and content consumption. As a Machine Learning Engineer (MLE) for the PhotoMode team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing one of TikTok's fastest-growing content types. Your responsibilities will include developing algorithms that optimize the photomode business on the TikTok platform, ensuring that the recommender system is at the forefront of industry standards. You will need to deeply understand business goals and machine learning technologies to continuously improve recommendation effectiveness. This role requires a strong grasp of user behavior, data mining, and algorithmic strategies to enhance user experience in content creation and browsing. You will also be expected to explore and understand the recommendation mechanisms from an algorithmic perspective, addressing key issues within the product business ecosystem and conducting forward-looking research. This position is not just about technical skills; it also emphasizes collaboration, communication, and a passion for technology, as you will work closely with a team to drive innovation and impact.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the photomode business algorithm work on TikTok platform, and jointly build the industry-leading Recommender system.
• Deeply understand business goals and Machine Learning technology, optimize the model & strategy, and continuously improve the recommendation effect.
• Understand user behavior, combined with data mining and other technologies, to optimize user creation and browsing experience.
• Explore and understand the recommendation mechanism, break down key issues in the product business ecosystem, and conduct forward-looking exploration and research.

Requirements

• Excellent coding skills, solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for solving non-challenging problems.
• Have a passion for technology, good communication skills and team spirit.
• Familiar with one or more of Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Data Mining. Experience in Recommender systems, Computational Advertising, and search engine related fields is preferred.
