About the position

The Machine Learning Engineer at NEXT is responsible for developing and maintaining machine learning models that scale effectively within the company's ecosystem. This role involves designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment, optimizing backend services, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deploy ML solutions. The engineer will also ensure the reliability and performance of cloud-based applications and ML models, integrating and managing databases and data pipelines for real-time applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain machine learning models, ensuring they scale effectively within our ecosystem
  • Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines for the seamless deployment of models and web services
  • Build and optimize backend services using Python frameworks like Django, Flask, or FastAPI
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, product managers, and operations teams to deploy ML solutions
  • Ensure the reliability and performance of cloud-based applications and ML models through monitoring and optimization using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Integrate and manage databases and data pipelines, ensuring efficient data flow and storage for real-time ML application

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in software development with strong proficiency in Python and web frameworks (Django, Flask, FastAPI)
  • Proven experience with CI/CD processes and tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI) and best practices like Test-Driven Development
  • Expertise in Machine Learning and Generative AI toolsets (scikit-learn, xgboost, Langchain, LlamaIndex)
  • Proficiency in database technologies (Postgres, MySQL) and Python data packages (numpy, pandas, dask, pyspark) and data pipelining (Airflow, Prefect, dbt, etc)
  • Experience with cloud deployment (Docker, Kubernetes) and monitoring tools for applications and models (Prometheus, Grafana, etc)
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or related fields from a top university

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience in the insurance industry (fintech/lending experience will also be considered)
