About the position

The Machine Learning Engineer position at the AI Platform organization focuses on developing and evaluating cutting-edge NLP and Deep Learning models. This role is integral to building the Azure AI evaluation platform, which supports various flagship products. The ideal candidate will be passionate about machine learning and eager to contribute to innovative solutions in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work on architecture, design, and development of the next generation of Azure AI's evaluation platform.
  • Collaborate with researchers, applied scientists, and machine learning engineers to design and build the end-to-end pipeline covering model training, data analysis, model serving, and model evaluation.
  • Implement the latest evaluation methods from published literature and industry standards.
  • Drive new product features and evaluation metrics.
  • Embody the company's culture and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in applying, implementing, and/or developing algorithms for machine learning, artificial intelligence, or statistics.
  • Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years of experience, OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with large language model (LLM) architecture, inference, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
  • Deep understanding of deep learning model architecture.
  • Experience with building, debugging, and optimizing large, high-performance ML training jobs.
  • Doctorate in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or equivalent technical field.
