About the position

The Machine Learning Engineer position at HII's Mission Technologies Division involves creating and managing end-to-end generative AI solutions. This remote role supports AI and digital modernization for both internal and external clients, focusing on applications ranging from intelligence analysis to manufacturing optimization. The engineer will engage in operational AI implementation, full stack design and development, and client engagement, requiring collaboration across various technical levels.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and apply machine learning and deep learning algorithms for operational deployment.
  • Rapidly design and create prototype applications to demonstrate AI capabilities.
  • Transition prototypes to production by designing and implementing scalable software stacks.
  • Support meetings with internal clients and external customers as a subject matter expert in AI and advanced software solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects for different clients in parallel.
  • Collaborate with individuals at varying levels of technical skills.
  • Communicate complex strategies and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; 3 years relevant experience with a Master's; or 0 years experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field; or High School Diploma and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages: Python, C++.
  • Experience with containerized development and deployment: Docker, Rancher, and/or K8s.
  • Knowledge of cloud engineering: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with databases: SQL, noSQL, and/or vector databases.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline management.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps design/deployment principles.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technologies/experience.
  • Experience with UI/UX development: JavaScript (Angular, React).
  • Backend development experience: REST API, web apps, microservices.
  • Experience creating or supporting generative AI products or platforms, particularly multimodal use-cases.
  • Familiarity with latest open source LLMs and relevant software frameworks.
  • Experience supporting feature development and maintenance for an enterprise-scale application.
