About The Position

The Machine Learning Intern position at DoorDash is a 12-week summer internship designed for students pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in relevant fields. Interns will engage in machine learning and artificial intelligence research, contributing to projects that enhance DoorDash's logistics and product offerings. The role involves collaboration with engineering teams and external partners, focusing on real-world applications of ML techniques across various domains.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a MS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Statistics, Information Sciences, or a related field, graduating between Fall 2025 and Summer 2026.
• Mastery of at least one systems language (Java, C++, Python, Kotlin, GoLang) or one ML framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLFlow).
• Experience in research and solving analytical problems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
• Passion for applied machine learning and the DoorDash product.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working on publications in machine learning, AI, data science, data analytics, statistics, or related technical fields.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in machine learning and artificial intelligence applicable to DoorDash's engineering teams.
• Engage in external collaborations and mentoring.
• Perform research in areas such as Auction, Game Theory, Recommendation Systems, Ranking, AdTech, Computer Vision, Causal Inference, and Big Data Analytics.
• Use cutting-edge research to solve real-world problems across discovery, ads, forecasting, fulfillment, and search experiences.
• Collect, analyze, and synthesize findings from data to build relevant ML models.
• Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code.
