About the position

The Research Engineer position in the Intellectual Property (IP) Group at Samsung Semiconductor Inc. focuses on developing innovative systems for patent text generation using multimodal inputs. This part-time role involves collaboration on research, experimentation, and implementation of algorithms, contributing to the advancement of machine learning in natural language processing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scientific research to design and develop innovative machine learning algorithms in the field of natural language processing for language modeling and multimodal text generation.
• Collaborate with other researchers in developing machine learning algorithms.
• Communicate with domain experts to gain a deep understanding of the problem space.
• Prepare presentations and technical reports to showcase experimental results and findings.
• Summarize and publish research findings in high-quality research papers and/or patent submissions.
• Demonstrate the ability to think creatively and work effectively both as part of a team and as an individual contributor.
• Show a strong willingness to learn new algorithms, application areas, and tools.

Requirements

• Ph.D. student or Masters student in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, information technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong background in machine learning, specifically deep learning.
• Background in natural language processing, text classification, and text generation algorithms.
• Knowledge of temporal text mining or working with temporal data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong programming skills such as Python or MATLAB.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Ph.D. student in computer science with a strong background in machine learning, specifically deep learning, neural networks, and neural language models.
• Strong research skills proven by publication record.
• Background in natural language processing, text classification, and text generation algorithms.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch.
