About the position

As a Machine Learning Research Scientist, you will be at the forefront of integrating biological reasoning with advanced AI technologies. Your role involves innovating machine learning algorithms to enhance biological understanding and model performance, conducting experiments to validate these models, and training AI systems using large biological datasets. You will work on complex AI research problems, utilizing advanced generative AI architectures to push the boundaries of biological AI, ultimately making a significant impact on health and biology.

Responsibilities

• Innovate on cutting-edge machine learning algorithms to enhance model performance and biological understanding.
• Design and conduct experiments to validate the model's capabilities across a wide range of biological phenomena.
• Train and scale innovative AI models using large, diverse biological multi-modal datasets across distributed GPU clusters.
• Solve challenging AI research problems at scale, focusing on model architecture, pre-training and fine-tuning strategies, and rigorous evaluation methods.
• Explore and implement advanced generative AI architectures, including transformers, diffusion models, and autoencoders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a relevant technical field.
• PhD with 2 years of research experience or equivalent experience with 4 years of research or industry experience in Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or other relevant fields.
• Strong publication record in top-tier AI conferences or journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).
• Proficiency in Python and expertise in at least one major deep learning framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX).
• Experience in researching and developing deep learning and generative AI methods.
• Experience with large-scale model training and optimization techniques.
• Track record of solving complex research problems and translating research into practical applications.
• Comfortable working with large, diverse datasets and experience in data analysis and visualization.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and ownership of challenges.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience applying machine learning to biological or chemical problems.
• Knowledge of physics, molecular biology, chemistry, computational biology, bioinformatics, or cheminformatics.
• Experience with multi-modal learning.
• Contributed to open-source machine learning projects.
• Experience in developing efficient code in C/C++.
